A few days ago (April 2nd 2021), Youtube randomly emailed me about having deleted my account due to âserious and repeated breaches of the community guidelinesâ. I was honestly shocked to hear this, as my account is probably as non-controversial as they come (over 10+ years I have hardly ever commented or uploaded anything publicly, and I have never received any warning or strike).I have been on Youtube for roughly half of my life. I would say Iâm the definition of a casual user, simply having viewed and subscribed to content within entertainment, sports and news. The only content ever uploaded on my channel were 3-4 videos from old high school projects (all set to private). None of these had ever received any type of warning or strike. Having basically never commented or otherwise interacted with other users, my account simply lacks any type of activity that could warrant a sudden complete suspension. Which is why I find Youtubeâs claims of “spam, deceptive practices & scams” especially perplexing.Naturally, I appealed the suspension and initially received notice that YT had reinstated my account (on April 3rd). Just afterwards, I received another email stating that one of my old (private) school projects contained some random dance/house track that had been blocked in: Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria. Importantly, the email explicitly stated that it was NOT any type of strike or warning, and that I did not need to remove the video. So, I thought it was all fine.Nonetheless, on April 4th, I received another (identical) email stating my account had been suspended (again) due to the same reason (breaching community guidelines on spam, deceptive practices & fraud). I appealed, again, on the same grounds, but quickly received another brief email claiming the decision had been upheld. Something tells me (incl. an aqcuaintance who has worked at Google) that this is clearly an example of standardized decision-making gone wrong and that my channel has been caught up in some type of mistake.Besides the issue of my account being terminated due to some type of error (an account on which I have spent countless hours building browsing history, subscriptions, playlists etc), there was also one video on the channel (a school project, set to private) that was very dear to me. The reason it pains me to have it deleted is that one of the people who participated in making the video was a dear friend who has since.. been through stuff (would rather not go into further personal details). This private video only existed on my channel. I must say, having Youtube delete my account and this video without any reasonable cause makes me really disappointed in a platform that I have otherwise loved and enjoyed for so long. So, I would simply beg for Youtube to assist me in reinstating my account, since there has clearly been some kind of error. Of course, I would be willing to download my private videos and then remove them from Youtube, if that is what it takes to avoid these issues in the future. I simply beg for the chance of doing so, since I was never before prompted or warned that this issue could arise. I don’t think any channel deserves to be suddenly terminated like this, without any type of preceding warning, especially when I have always had the intention of staying within the community guidelines.
Please provide the following:
A screenshot or copy and paste of the latest suspension email,A screenshot of the first (accepted) appealA screenshot of the second (rejected) appealA screenshot relating to the country restrictions on the old school project video.Your /channel/ URL. (This may have been linked in the original suspension email, as a link to your name in the first paragraph of that email OR as a link to the channel at the end of the email. So if you copy/paste the original suspension email, it should be possible to get that.)
Please ensure that you are blocking out or removing any personal information (such as your email address) from any comment or screenshots you post. If you do not remove personal information, then your comment or thread may be DELETED to protect your privacy.
Please note that I cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only have the team do a separate review. In these sorts of cases, either the first team (who approved the appeal) was wrong or the second team (who rejected), but there isn’t any way at the outset to say what YouTube will say on another review.
I will note the following:
1. some violations are considered severe enough to bypass warnings or strikes, so not having received warnings or strikes is not a strong defense/reason for unsuspension.
2. If the team does decide to keep the channel suspended, then you will not be allowed to recover content from the suspended channel.
