Authorization charge from Google from didn’t purchase anything. It’s b/c I added my card to chrome? 0 Recommended Answers 0 Replies

I have a small charge from “google *services g.co/helppay# gbr” on my credit card. It looks like it could be an authorization charge. I didn’t actually purchase anything from Google. Is this just because I recently added that card to my payment methods so it will auto-fill in Chrome? I’m trying to determine if this is fraud. Especially because the merchant is supposedly in the UK.

If that’s still listed as “pending” by your bank, then yes, it’s because you added it to your Google Account.

When you do that, Google asks for a small temporary authorization just to prove that the card number is valid and registered to your address.  That authorization/hold is never paid by your bank and vanishes after a few days.  How long that takes depends on your bank; some only hold for 24 hours, some hold for a week.
